Currently Seeking: Paid Choral Scholar (Tenor, Baritone, or Bass)
The primary purpose of the Choral Scholar is to provide support for the volunteer singers of the chancel choir. Choral scholars set a positive example to the Chancel Choir volunteers through excellence in attendance, promptness, preparation, and a positive attitude. Scholars demonstrate strong sight-reading and leadership skills. The program is designed for skilled vocal students who wish to gain professional experience in a safe, welcoming, and friendly setting.
The San Jose Chancel Choir maintains a high standard of singing and performs a diverse repertoire from the 16th century to the present in a variety of languages. Choral Scholars also occasionally perform solos or duets in addition to their choral duties. They are an active part of the rehearsal process, as well as in worship.
Choral Scholar positions are open to current undergraduate and graduate students, as well as young artists.
To be admitted scholars must complete an interview and audition with the Director of Music
