Bill Peters, Organist and Choir Director
Bill Peters has had a lifelong interest in music and organs.
In addition to his work as organist and choir director at San Jose, his music ministry takes him into Community Hospice where he regularly plays to share God's love with those in the Hospice community. He has been overheard saying, “This weekly mission is the most rewarding of all." Bill graduated with Master of Music degree in organ performance from Wilkes University and from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He completed additional study with his mentor and teacher Dr. George Markey, in organ and counterpoint at the Guilmant Organ School in New York. Bill has celebrated more than 60 years as a church musician. He has presented recitals in Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New York City at St. Thomas’ Church, Fifth Avenue, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and Grace Episcopal Church in Lower Manhattan. Bill and his late wife Betsy spent lots of their spare time traveling around the United States. Bill's love of travel has continued around the world, where he has enjoyed playing organs in many European churches and cathedrals. As regional representative for the Allen Organ Company, Bill has presented many dedicatory recitals across Florida and Georgia. His many ministries in music are a gift, especially his San Jose Parish Choir.
The Parish Choir of San Jose is open to all singers and there are no auditions. We sing on the second Sunday of each month and for holidays and special services. Our repertoire includes excellent choral literature from many traditions in Christian music. We welcome all singers into our midst; in fact, our choir is one of the most welcoming, friendly and caring groups of men and women that you will find in any church. For further information, contact Bill Peters by calling the church office or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Come and make “a joyful noise” with us!
